As per several messages from Konstantin Kalnyi stating that after a fixture his earned brokerage commission was not paid by Varamar chartering, we have decided to show solidarity: “We stopped working with Varamar until the brokerage commission is paid, and we receive a confirmation message that the commission was paid by Varamar.”

The Market Verdict: Operational Isolation

This goes beyond a legal dispute. Individual participants in the chartering market are now factoring the unpaid commission into their own commercial decisions.

Globalnet Trading has stated that it will not handle Varamar’s enquiries or support their fixtures until official confirmation of payment is delivered. That is the position of one company rather than of the South Asian market as a whole, but it sets a precedent that other counterparties can follow.

True transparency in shipping cannot be replaced by corporate PR or claims of digital innovation. It comes down to basic payment discipline, respect for individual entrepreneurs and adherence to English maritime law.

If a carrier chooses to run their operations via text-messenger penalties and phantom lawsuits, the global market will simply shut its doors.

The message from the global shipbroking network to Varamar’s management is loud, clear and unyielding: pay your debts, honour your signed fixtures, or face complete commercial isolation.
